Relaxing at Heaven Scent
Few things are as restorative as a completely relaxing getaway.
Sure, there are plenty of ways to be active here and nearby. But we suggest that a few days of simply "chillng" might be just what you need.
Breakfast time is flexible here.
Sleep in late if you want; we'll offer hot coffee or tea as early as you like and hold off on breakfast.
Browse the bookshelves, find something great to read.
We've got plenty of "vacation reading" - murder mysteries and the like - but also a good selection of plays, classic fiction, and a lot of fine works on history. And there are plenty of cozy spots where you can read - in perfect quiet, or with your choice of classical music. Just ask.
Take a gallery tour: right here.
All the common rooms, hallways and guest rooms are filled with original watercolor and oil paintings. Check out the selection for sale in the entryway; while you're at it, browse the Gift Rack as well and find something to buy for friends or family who aren't along.
Enjoy some music.
There is a partial catalog of our classical music collection at the front desk, so you can request what you'd like to listen to. Our collection of opera, choral music, and classical music from the Baroque through Romantic periods has a fair depth. If you're feeling inspired, play the piano in the dining room.
Have a movie evening.
We've got about 500 movies on hand, spanning all the decades of filmmaking, and including a fair selection of foreign films if you'd like something out of the ordinary. You can retreat to your own room with a movie, of course, or enjoy the 42" plasma screen in the living room. We'll set you up with beverages and microwave popcorn, and whip up a batch of brownies if you'd like.
Enjoy the gardens.
See how many birds, butterflies, frogs, herbs, scented flowers you can find, if you want to make a bit of a game of it. Laze in a garden swing and take deep breaths of good country air. Play with the dog. Watch the cat.
Get a bit of easy exercise:
Badminton, croquet, or just toss a football or frisbee around.
If your mind just must stay in gear:
Do a bit of genealogy research. We have information on available records, some books on genealogy in Virginia, and a highspeed internet connection for online searching.
