Dinner Packages
Dinner on your arrival night can be offered as a package when arranged in advance, so if travel will make it hard to get out to a restaurant, let us know what we can do for you: you can book a light late meal of homemade soup, salad, and dessert, or a full dinner.
Dinner can be served on the screened porch or in the dining room. The porch is wonderful on a summer evening, with the scent of flowers and the chorus of frogs! The dining room is a very cozy setting for an intimate candlelight dinner. The stereo is here, as well as an authentic and working gramophone.
One dinner menu: sauteed crabcakes with lime mayonnaise, made with the best local crabmeat and no filler; pasta with smoked salmon and fresh asparagus (when available, otherwise, with peas) in cream sauce with parmiggiano reggiano and our fresh basil. Both dishes here are garnished with our own cocktail tomatoes. The menu includes salad of baby lettuces and fresh herbs, and dessert soufflé.
Something we're crazy about: sauteed foie gras. Served as an appetizer or a main dish, it makes for an extravagant, memorable and delicious meal. We can only obtain the raw foie gras by FedEx air, so must have a week's notice. In photos to the right, you see an appetizer of sauteed foie gras and apples, and a main dish of foie gras and duck breast served with a cherry balsamic sauce, haricots verts and sauteed potatoes.
A more rustic dinner: chicken with artichoke hearts, peas and fresh mushrooms, accompanied by sautéed potatoes. Served with a mixed salad. Dessert might be crème caramel or another favorite.
We can keep it simple, too: a light supper of soup, salad and dessert might suit a late arrival or a Sunday evening.
Our numerous and varied specialties include: main dish crêpes and soufflés of many kinds, Moroccan tagine of lamb with apricots served with vegetable couscous, boeuf Bourguignon, French onion soup, vegetable cream soups, roast rack of lamb, moist roast chicken with thyme and Vermouth served with a platter of roasted vegetables, risotto of asparagus, artichokes, fennel or funghi porcini, penne alla vodka with fresh tomatoes.
